BROMSGROVE ROVERS Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground looks like the home of a bigger club used to having larger attendances than most in our league. It has an imposing main stand seating about 400, and terracing with many more steps than we are used to seeing, covered at one end and giving an overall capacity of over 4500. The drawback with larger facilities is that they cost more to maintain as they age, and some areas of the ground have looked a little worn, perhaps like bits of our own. Therefore it is not surprising that a relocation is on the agenda, as with a number of clubs. Bromsgrove was a Conference club between 1992 and 1997, and some of the professionalism and facilities still reflect this - in recent seasons crowds have tended to be in the 300 to 600 bracket, giving more of a big match atmosphere than at most of the grounds we visit. Attendances are down this year, in common with most clubs at our level, averaging 331 at present but this is still the highest in our division. If I remember correctly, one problem with a visit to Bromsgrove is that there is no parking and visitors should allow extra travel time because of this. The social facilities are also perhaps on a slightly smaller scale than the rest of the ground, standing alongside the pitch similar to our own. |

Directions Leave M5 at Junction 5 and take A38 towards Bromsgrove. At roundabout on edge of town, take first exit into Worcester Road. Stay on this road into the town centre, bear left into Hanover Street then turn right at roundabout into St John Street. Continue straight on into Market Street. At junction with Stourbridge Road go straight across into Birmingham Road. The ground is on your left before Victoria Road. |
