THAME UTD The 1995 redevelopment of the Windmill Stadium, costing £750,000, was well publicised at the time, and it is now said to be one of the best stadia in the county. The works included replacing the old stand and clubhouse. The new stand is cantilevered, giving an unimpeded view of the match, and incorporates the dressing rooms. The social facilities house a boardroom with a lounge annex. The main function room is the Windmill Suite, which can accommodate up to 200 people, while most regulars use the lounge bar. There is parking for 170 cars, and all this is on a site just 5 minutes walk from the town centre because it is in the same place as when the club was founded in 1883. Regarding the rest of the ground, much of it has terracing and there are varying amounts of cover. The redevelopment has been funded by the sale of land behind one goal and the old training pitch for housing, so if you like to watch football with the backdrop of animals grazing you will now be disappointed. web: http://www.thameunitedfc.demon.co.uk |
