Geographically Clevedon are our closest rivals, but it is still a 70 mile round trip for our festive derby fixture on 27^th December. There is usually a good turnout from Taunton, and the timing and transfer of Alex Watson should add extra interest – therefore it is worth making this your first away trip of the season if you haven’t travelled so far.

Clevedon’s is an impressive modern, purpose built stadium, with a large grandstand offering a fine view of the excellent playing surface opposite a pitch length stretch of smart covered terracing. The terracing at both ends is not covered but gives better elevation than most grounds in our league.

If we are to relocate, the Hand Stadium offers us an interesting example. Its location is further out of town than would be ideal, and is at Kenn rather than Clevedon. When the team are struggling it is certainly more of an effort for supporters to travel to the game. The main bar is obviously more modern than ours but it does suffer from being a little long and narrow, making it less versatile than it could be.

The whole complex does offer the opportunity of space, giving extra income-generating possibilities which in Clevedon’s case includes a separate arena and an equestrian centre.
