Taunton begin their FA Trophy campaign when they travel to Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division side Frome Town tomorrow (29 September) for a First Round Qualifying tie, kick-off 3.00pm. After their disappointingly early exit from the FA Cup, Town are hoping for a better run in this competition but have a tough task on their hands against a Frome side who sit in 9th place in the Premier table and who have won three of their four home League games this season.
Town manager Leigh Robinson said: “It’s a game we’re certainly looking forward to. I hate saying ‘we’re under no pressure’ as that sounds like we’re preparing to lose. As a group we always put ourselves under pressure to perform as we demand high standards. I’ve got great respect for what Darren Perrin and Frome have achieved in the last few years; we aspire to achieve what they have eventually so it’ll be a good test.”
Captain Simon Ingram is not fit to play tomorrow due to a niggling groin strain whilst Lee Smyth is unavailable. However Town welcome back Ben Mammola, Andy Robertson and Dave Hambly who all missed the midweek game at Tiverton.
Should a replay be required, the game will take place at Wordsworth Drive on Tuesday evening (2 October), kick-off 7.45pm. |
