Taunton won through to the 2nd Round Qualifying of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 victory at Frome Town this afternoon (29 September). After Rodney Marsh had forced a good save from Darren Chitty in the Frome goal, Town scored what proved to be the solitary goal of the contest after 27 minutes when Neil Peek's long throw was headed in by Owen Irish. Frome, who play a division higher than Town in the Evo-Stik League Southern, rarely tested Connor Sidley-Adams with Taunton nearly scoring a second goal near the end when Chitty tipped Marsh's drive past the post. Post-match comment: Town manager Leigh Robinson said: " We defended magnificently, created the best chances on the counter attack and deserved the win. I don't remember Connor having a serious save to make which shows how well we defended away at a higher league club. I'm also really happy that on a footballing and financial level, we've made amends for the Gillingham FA Cup defeat. I'm really hoping for a home draw in the next round as I think we're due one having been drawn away in all the cup ties we've played so far this season!"
