Owen Irish has been appointed as the club captain of Taunton Town.  Defender Irish who first played for the Peacocks in the 2008-09 season has shown great character to resume his playing career with the club following the leg break he suffered in October 2010. He will act as the link off the pitch to facilitate communication between the players, supporters and the club, with his role dovetailing with that of Simon Ingram who remains as the team captain on the pitch.

Manager Leigh Robinson commented:  “I am delighted to announce Owen as our club captain and I have loved every minute of working with him so far. The lad really cares about his football and loves playing for Taunton Town; he has really bought into what Martyn and I are trying to develop in the long term at the club. If we are to achieve our goals Owen will most certainly have a key role to play and we will need many other players of his type involved”.

Irish remarked:”  It is obviously an honour to be club captain of Taunton Town, a club with great history and ambition. I am looking forward to being involved in the continuous growth of the club in future and to hopefully help bring back success.”
