Taunton survived a spirited comeback from their visitors to earn three valuable points in their quest for the title.
The home side made a lively start and skipper Matt Wright had the ball in the net after just 8 minutes with a delightful lob which was disallowed for offside. A further chance came after 12 minutes when a Pierce Mitchell shot was saved by Beaconsfield keeper Ravan Constable.
The breakthrough came after 20 minutes and it was no surprise that leading scorer Andrew Neal was the player who found the net with a 20 yard deflected shot which deceived Constable. Another chance fell to Wright after 33 minutes but his shot was blocked by Constable.
Taunton went 2-0 up six minutes before half time when Neal’s shot was again deflected past Constable.
Two minutes later Brendan Matthews rounded Taunton keeper Chandler Hallett and put the ball in the net but like Wright’s earlier effort it was chalked off for offside.
Any doubts about Taunton needing to work to secure the three points were dispelled in the opening minute of the second half when Charlie Losasso unleashed a 20 yard shot which gave Hallett no chance and the visitors were back in the game.
Beaconsfield could have equalized seven minutes later when Lossaso found himself through on goal but on this occasion Hallett was able to make a save.
Midway through the second half Lewis Hall was forced to make a tackle to deny Lossaso a second goal and Taunton could have added to their tally just a minute later when Constable hit the ball against Taunton sub Dan Sullivan who was unable to capitalize.
Both teams continued to apply pressure but there were no further goals and Taunton were able to regain their seven point advantage at the top of the table.
